Staff Accountant TS/SCI CI poly

Department: Corporate Headquarters
Location: Chantilly, VA

TENICA and Associates LLC is looking to hire a staff accountant with TS/SCI CI poly.

Basic Function:The staff accountant position performs the accounting operations of the company, makes inputs and maintains the system of accounting records, enters accurate financial data, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Contributes to a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  • Coordinates with outsourced functions and customers

Transactions

  • Performs day-to-day accounting transactions which include: processes payroll; ensures accounts payable are paid in a timely manner; ensures all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable; ensures accounts receivable are collected promptly and processes payroll in a timely manner
  • Prepares invoices and journal entries in a timely manner
  • Coordinates with Human Resources (HR) for uploading new employees and process employee change notices, insurance and 401K changes
  • Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed
  • Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis
  • Maintain the chart of accounts
  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
  • Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions

Reporting

  • Contributes to the preparation of the corporate annual report
  • Recommends benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
  • Calculate financial and operating metrics
  • Makes input to annual budget and forecasts
  • Calculate variances from the budget and reports significant issues to management
  • Contributes to a system of management cost reports
  • Provide financial analyses as needed

Compliance

  • Provides input to corporate policies and procedures
  • Provides information to external auditors for the annual audit
  • Monitors debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
  • Complies with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings


Required Qualifications

  • The staff accountant candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience
  • Ten or more years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint is a must
  • Knowledge of business within government services
