Senior Policy Research and Analyst
Must have SECRET clearance or above
Job location: Hybrid. 2 to 3 days in Washington DC
Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage research, analysis and policy findings of entities and classes of transactions related to administrative, regulatory, civil or criminal action, including in the areas of telecommunications (including optical, wireless and wireline networking), advanced computers, computer science, software development, computer networking, information security, cybersecurity, encryption, mobile networking, satellite communication, networking infrastructure, or internet connected devices.
Determine priorities, goals, time frames, and management objectives for projects involving the drafting of new regulations or amendment of existing regulations to address risks.
Identify issues relating to regulatory control, such as policy, licensing, compliance, enforcement, and legal issues, and coordinate with policy advisors and others responsible for these issues to improve success of regulatory objectives and to resolve problems, including making appropriate recommendations for regulatory modifications.
Recommend new or amended regulations or procedures required to resolve significant problems or changes that arise
Identify the parameters of the issues concerned and determine probable courses of action, alternative actions, and their expected effects.
Draft regulations to detail the definition, scope, risk assessment and mitigations for classes of transactions.
Draft policy and position papers and prepare briefing materials to assist in supporting senior Commerce officials.
Draft materials explaining policy for inclusion in materials for distribution to external audiences.
Conduct and facilitate industry engagements, roundtables, and other outreach functions.
Conduct and facilitate international engagements, roundtables, and other outreach functions.
