Information System Security Engineer (ISSE)

Department: Government Customer- Chantilly
Location: Chantilly, VA

Position Description

As a Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) this position ensures products and systems comply with requirements and government information assurance and cyber security standards and practices through formal verification methods. Verifies/validates systems. Assesses security performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures. Prepares assessments and cyber threat profiles of current and planned products based on sophisticated testing, research, and†analysis. Participates in design reviews of components (hardware and software) to ensure applicability to the†current system and traceability of requirements. Reviews test plans/procedures and ensures they†verify/validate the requirements. Develops and maintains analytical procedures to meet changing†requirements. Produces high-quality papers, presentations, recommendations, and findings for senior US†government intelligence and operations officials. Provide system engineering support to maintain the security posture of networks and systems.

Assess potential risks, mitigation measures, residual risks, and provide a recommendation to the Government for approval or disapproval; research and advise the CISO and other staff on recently developed countermeasures designed to protect systems from new threats; and assist in the development, implementation, and administration of effective security programs.† Conduct risk assessments to determine the risk posed by the integration of new systems or capabilities.† Provide oversight to the end-to-end development of an IA system or system component.† Recommend security architectures to the Government that promote cost-effective and efficient systems.† Recommend network security measures that provide confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, and non-repudiation.† Analyze the IA/IS environment and provide technical evaluations in identifying IA-related vulnerabilities, threats, and risks. Coordinate program remediation plans for addressing vulnerability finding.† Recommend reciprocity risk management principles that standardize security assessments.† Recommend the appropriate level of remediation to security anomalies or integrity loopholes.† Assist the Government in ensuring the rigorous application of IA control implementation, principles, and practices in the delivery of IT systems.† Evaluate engineering change request proposals.† Work with other SMEs on developing authorization packages.† Collaborate with appropriate Cross Domain Service representatives to ensure proper authorization and alignment with agency processes.† Participate in IA engineering working groups, forums, and IPTs.† Communicate and collaborate with program leads and technical SMEs in support of acquisition program milestones or projects.

Qualifications†

  • Clearance - TS SCI with Poly
  • Requires 10 to 12 years with BS/BA or 8 to 10 years with MS/MA or 5 to 7 years with PhD.
  • Experience with acquisition and project management desired
  • IAT Level 2 certified
  • Experience supporting IT domain or IC desired
  • Minimum of BS STEM Degree from an accredited college or university in a technical discipline
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent communications skills
